U-Turn

Definition:

A skill that not only harnesses an opponent’s power but also leverages their instinct along a U-shaped trajectory. It begins with an unexpected yet measured retreat that triggers the opponent’s instinct to pull back, followed by incorporating that returning momentum to counter them.

Usage:

  • As a noun: “Moving along a U-shaped track is commonly seen in Push-Hands practice, yet applying the skill of U-Turn is another matter.”

Additional Notes:

U-Turn is an advanced skill. Unlike Flash-Suppression or Yielding-Drift, it cannot be activated by a simple push. It requires extensive practice to awaken the sensitivity needed to perceive and harness both the mental and physical shifts that occur in an opponent during confrontation.
