Jin

Definition:

A refined portion of muscular power cultivated through Taijiquan practice, Standing, or other internal martial art exercises. Unlike brute force, Jin is characterized not by raw output but by its instant accessibility, precision control, and effectiveness at the point of contact. It manifests in two primary ways:

  • Instantaneous activation: Jin can be summoned with minimal preparatory time and effort, enabling immediate responsiveness.
  • Precision control: Jin can be continuously modulated in force, direction, and timing—even during movement.

Usage:

  • As a noun: “One can continually refine and strengthen Jin through Taijiquan practice.”

Additional Notes:

Jin cannot be measured by its effect on inanimate objects but by its relative advantage in human interaction—when timing, sensitivity, and adaptability matter most.

For example, if an opponent exerts n kilograms of force and one neutralizes it with n + 0.0001 kilograms, the difference represents the essence of Jin: sensitivity and precision, delivered at the exact time and place required.
