Hang
Definition:
A mental state in which all muscles are imagined to drape loosely from the skeleton—much like clothes hanging on a hanger. Even the internal organs are perceived as gently suspended downward, creating an overall relaxation of the body.
Usage:
- As a noun: “Practitioners maintain the Yi of Hang whether practicing Forms or Standing, inducing an overall state of Relaxation.”
Additional Notes:
Among the various expressions of Yi, Hang is broader in scope, encompassing the entire body. Yet it becomes relatively easier to cultivate as Up, Sit, Lead, and Sink are progressively developed. Together, these related mental states prepare the body for poised readiness—able to move naturally and efficiently in any direction.
