Flash-Suppression/Flash-Suppress

Definition:

A technique used in physical confrontation—either in Push-Hands or combat—in which Jin is applied to overwhelm or interrupt an opponent’s power before it is fully released.

Usage:

  • As a noun: “The latent ability of Flash-Suppression can be activated through constant external pressure.”
  • As a verb: “He Flash-Suppressed his opponent at the very beginning of an attempted attack.”

Additional Notes:

Flash-Suppression is often among the first abilities to emerge through consistent Form-Practice. It serves as a foundational skill for neutralizing an opponent’s force at its origin—before full execution—by sensing intention and responding almost instantaneously.

However, in Taijiquan, Counter-Movement is not merely a tool for balance. It is consciously cultivated to generate the movement of one part of the body by engaging others. It operates through three sequential layers: intention, muscular activity, and external movement.
